Anyone know how to take out the back seat on the type S????
I am going to be competing in a race this week at the local track and I want to gut my car ie.. passenger seat, rear seats, spare tire, speaker in spare tire. I was wondering if anyone had pictures on how to remove the rear seats. or how to.. any help is appreciated...Please let me know asap, the race is tomorrow night... if not im going to try to take it out tonite myself.. well thanks guys..
yep,.i took mine out a while back,..its simple,...take off the back carpet peices and it will show you the way.bottm seat is held in by 1 screw,.then you have to pull to get it out of the side of the car!!,..it took me like 5 min's,..it was just like taking them out of my GSR.theres a couple bolts and things that keep the high part of the back seats together,...pretty simple
Well, the rear seats weigh all but 8 lbs or so, so I don't think you'll save a whole lot of weight.
-off-topic, but do you have any fitament issues with your JDM rims? I wanted to get a set, but I've heard from several people you won't be able to run a 225 wide tire bc of the high off-set. Is this true?

Well in racing every pound counts. As for the rims they are fine. I have a 215/45R17 falkens on them. nice ride. I like it..
Save some more weight and take out: (estimate weight)
spare tire, jack: 25lbs.
back seats: 10lbs.
floor mats: 3lbs.
rear hatch cover: 1lb.
rear hatch mat : 2lbs.
rear plastic trim: 3lbs.
glove box and all stuff in it: 1lb.
passanger seat: 25lbs.
so you save roughly 70lbs. Any weight reduction is improvement in these cars. There will be more throttle response and the suspension will be more true. Ohh I forgot lay off of the bigmacks (another 1lb. or 2lbs.)
All of these can be taken out simple with a few tools (screw driver, socket set, and fork tool)

and for the track ditch those 17's , there to big, rob power, put the stocks back on , hopefully you have some good non-stock tires on there.....and disconnect the p/s , and a/c belt if you can....that should free a lot of binded power...goood luck, post up them time slips when ya get them

I'll take the disconnecting the p/s and a/c belts into consideration.. Thanks guys.

What about the bigmack?
hehe
well it looks like your well on your way. If by track you mean drag strip, a couple other things you could eliminate that aren't too dificult to get to would be the rear sway bar (possibly 10lbs.) and I see some people eliminating their rear bumper support (supposidly 25lbs.), but if you do this make sure you don't get rear ended or else, well you will have a new motor mounted where your back seats were!
good luck!
