in my 03 ep3 when you shift from 2nd to third gear over 4000 rpms it grinds something terrible, any ideas thanks?

try changing your transmission fluid to Royal Purple or penzoil Syncromesh

my 04 ep had a problem grind from second to third.i just forked over $2300 and bought one form the local o'reillys auto parts from everdrive. it came with 3year free replacement unlimited mileage. and if it tears up with in the first year they told me i was able to get a labor claim. just an idea if you have some spare cash. btw i have my old tranny still 86k on it if anyone is interested let me know

OP I would do a MTF fluid change every 2 oil changes! I do it every oil change!

I beg to differ on the dealer not knowing anthing. Service Writers (the people who meet you in the service drive) don't know anything. You don't have to be ASE certified, or know anything to be a service writer. Find a tech, they'll know stuff.
Service writers work on commission too, like a salesman.

 

considering that the dealership told me a transmisson was $2600 with out any kind of warranty....i would rather pay $2300 and have a 3 year with unlimted mileage thanks.
