Oil Temp - What is too low?
Yes, I have searched, and found many many posts about people's oil and coolant temps. Most of them are wondering at what temp is it too high.
I am wondering exactly the opposite. I'm running a M-Factory Oil Cooler and filter relocator kit on my JRSC'd ITR. I have both Oil Temp and Water Temp gauges, the oil temp is connected at the relocator (outside of the engine) and the water is connected at the upper rad hose near the rad.
For normal street driving, in temperatures of 10-25 degrees C, I am seeing the following:
Oil Temp: ranges from 160-180 degrees, while idling in traffic, ranges 140-160 degrees while driving down the highway.
Water Temp: ranges from 170-180 degrees while idling, and 150-160 degrees while driving down the highway. Never sees over 180.
What is TOO COLD for oil for the car to be operating properly, and if it is too cold, how do I run a thermistat in this setup?
Thank you
andrew
PS. IAT ranges 130-155 degrees F while driving in town and boosting, 110-130 cruizing on the highway on half throttle.

wow for a start i would check your thermostat(water), its probably stuck open. I bet the car is running rich.
Iat´s seem normal if u r supercharged without the LHT JRSC Intercooler.

I think a lot of these low temps have to do with where you are picking up the readings from.
Stock water temp is ON THE HEAD where its definitely going to be hotter than where you have yours placed.
secondly, why are you taking your oil temp reading from the remote mounted filter location? take the reading from the pan instead and get a more accurate reading of what oil temp is INSIDE the motor.
