Bike shut off while riding....
My bike wouldn't start, so I bump started it... figured dead battery...
While merging onto 95 from 295 the bike shuts of intermittently. I figure it 's "bump starting" while going 80... after making sure I hadn't **** myself, I make it to the next offramp. The second I hit first it shuts off and it won't start. I walk it across the intersection and park it. Friends take me to grab a battery, I throw it in, and ride home.
This can't be a simple dead battery, right? I'm thinking R/R as it is a 98 VFR with ~35K on it. Oh and WTF does a R/R do anyway?
Thanks for any help you guys can give.

R/R converts AC to DC, producing usable power for the bike
Not a bad fix, you can buy a replacement for less than a hundred bucks
Fix it as soon as you can versus bump-starting it. Letting this problem drag on can kill battery life. Sometimes upping the idle on the bike can keep it alive longer, but of course that is at the cost of your plugs =\

That's what I've been doing for the last few weeks on my F2 (~2,000 rpm).
It's not what I'd prefer to do, but I haven't gotten around to ordering a new R/R yet. Plus I need new plugs anyways
