Default zc?

oki...so last monday my buddy and i went up to tiger japanese and each bought a single cam zc...for a 88-91 civic/crx...we get back to the shop to put em in our race cars...adn there is noticable diffrences....such as a oil cooler on his not on mine...his throttle body/intake has no fast idle vavle or even the vaccum line spot....also a diff valve cover...just wanting to knwo why this is diff as my buddys and my self have bought zc's b4 but none have been like this one...lol....cheers!

i have heard of the dohc zc's coming with oil coolers but never the sohcs...pretty cool tho. i think there is a stamp on the head, on the front where the exhaust manifold bolts on that has xx/xx or something like that. you can tell what year car they came out of by that stamp. i would also beware of buying from tiger japanese they sent me a motor with a crushed oil pan and crushed valve cover!

my friend actually just purchased a sohc zc obd0 engine from hmotorsonline and his too has an oil cooler. Would automatic sohc zc's have oil coolers and 5-speed sohc zc's not? just a thought. I honestly dont know though

the shohc zc's came in so many different versions its kinda crazy, not that im healping you to answer your question, but mine was dual carb. I just used everything from my previouse mpfi swap. cuz all you really want is the block and the head, doesnt matter what IM your using you might have to make one extra coolant line(youll see)

Aren't the zc's similar to the d series both sohc/dohc and both vtec/non vtec??

So there must quite a bit of differences between them all, right?

Did you even consider this OP? Do the wiring harnesses have differently colored connectors on them?

at least you went directly to tigerjapanese to most likely get ripped off....they sent me a dohc zc that when turned by hand on delivery, wouldnt turn....did they honor my warranty? of course not....could i talk to someone there who spoke fluent english? oh hell no....i know im not helping the OP with his engine identification issue....but i saw that they went to tigerJ and had to put my .02 in
