Default Valve Lash Adjustment

well, its time that i adjust my valves...this is my 2nd honda and will be my first time doing a valve adjustment , ive bled the lifters in a sr20 before but never a honda...

i have the basic idea , unscrew the lock nut...get out a feeler gauge and adjust it with a screwdriver until there is a little play in the feeler gauge...is there anything i should look out for?

i know it cant be too tight or too loose , it has to be just right...what else?

you dont need the tool but will make it easier. at least have and angled wrench that looks like a step, dont know the proper name. also be careful your first time if you dont know what your doing. make sure for tdc at each cylinder when adjusting and also not too tight or loose

I called my local stealership about this, it was around 120.00

make sure the engine is cold as well, overnight cold is best

i did it , had to do it twice...first time it was louder than before , rechecked everything and its real quiet now...although i think one valve could use a little more adjusting but after driving it , i dont hear anything anymore...guess it worked

nice, good job. I hear you can gain a few horse too by having your valves on the tight side just dont over do it.

You don't need any special tools. I did it with a flathead screw driver and a socket wrench haha. After a few valve adjustments you get good at knowing where to leave the screw before tightening the nut, in order to get the valve lash where it needs to be. Just be sure you double check the clearances one last time before you put the valve cover back on

so if you tighten the screw it means your tightening the valve correct. then you finish it by tightening the nut correct?

the screw tightens the space in between the rocker and top of the valve. the nut is to keep it in place.

i just did my valve adjustment and it wasnt as hard as i thought. i was very very cautious and i was alone so no one could distract me. i didnt take it for a test drive yet but i did start it up and listened. it was perfect. i also followed team integras write up. the small one fit but the bigger one didnt and that was the most important part. my intake side was looser than my exhaust side.
