Default 89 civic hatch with 4 speed tranny wont shift!!!???

Alright, so I just got this 89 civic hatch running. stock motor, manual four speed tranny. I put it in gear, it goes in fine, but my clutch isnt grabbing at all! I am almost 100% sure I put the clutch together right. My question is, does this hole on the top of my four speed tranny have anything to do with getting it in gear? Its a hole for some type of hose. I didnt take the thing apart, so I dont know what goes there. And also, there is a metal cable that comes from the middle of the fire wall that goes right next to the the other hole I just mentioned. I dont know how it goes in, or if it has anything to do with it not grabbing. I also tried tightening the clutch cable ****, and loosening it, and still no luck. I am really pissed off right now. I've been working on the freakin thing all day, just to find out that the clutch wont grab! Anyone know anything about these two things? I have to pictures to show what I'm talking about. Thanks, David

so that has nothing to do with my clutch not engaging i guess. What about the other hose? I was reading some other stuff on honda tech, they were all saying that theirs wouldn't go into gear while the car was on. Mine goes in gear when the car is on and off, but the clutch just isnt grabbing at all. Does the clutch cable **** have to be really tight?

i dont know about your clutch not engaging. you probably didnt get something back in right. That cable that you have goes in the hole in the first picture.

could it be possible that my pressure plate is cracked, or my flywheel is messed up?

would it not engage if my pressure plate is in backwards? I'm pretty sure I didnt, but if I did would you feel it move at all when you put it in gear and pop the clutch?
