does anybody have pictures of a real Mugen hood for ITR? Inside and out! Some guy wants to sell me one and I want to make sure its genuine! Also I heard its CF inside and out is this true...any info is useful! thanks....

 

Don't have any pictures other than the ones you've most likely already seen (normal celebrity Mugen shots). But, I know that the material used is lighter and stronger than carbon fiber. Some sort of well-processed fiberglass, I'm not entirely sure. Hurry, someone correct me.

 

ya I saw those PICs too! This guy I talked to went to japan and said that they had a Mugen one that was CF all the way around..maybe he's talking about a secret hood They got over there without the scoupe deal..I'm lost....Doesnt BlackR have one...

 

I want to know what it looks like!!!!!

Actually Mugen does offer a Carbon version of their JDM DC2 hood. A friend has it on his yellow R. The hood is FPR with a carbon layer over it. The hood also comes with a dull base clear coat on it. Oh yeah my friend paid around $1400 for the hood from King.

Oh yeah the hood is identical to the normal FPR hood with the scoops, etc... on it. IMO the quality was ok. I would do what my friend did and just paint it rather then buffing it and clear coating it to make it all clear and glossy looking.

I have no idea. He got the hood around this time last year and I highly doubt they are making new stuff for the DC2. Also now that I think of it he paid a lot more then $1400. It might have been $2400. I'll have to check. I'll post when I talk to him next.

 

But for the original poster, no the hood in question isn't Mugen.

Especially if it's being sold in Hawaii.

 

According to King's website the hood is offered in both carbon fiber and FRP (fiberglass). The cost on the site says $1599 but that is most likely for the FRP version.

cool thanks! i'm gonna get into more detail with it...does Mugen put any emblems on the hoods? And it is shitty...we dont even have a distributer here we got nuthin but Turbo's and ****...But JDM is trying to make its way through the door!!!

on the underside of the hood it should have a mugen logo and part/serial number underneath a layer of fiberglass...but if it was painted you might be out of luck...

also...if you look at it from the top...you should be able to see the layers of c/f form a peace sign...

are you talking about a Ying and Yang sign? like i see one side is darker than the other..

 

the one I was looking at looks the same as the pic but the underside is black! It looks super good quality! No logos but the skeliton on the underside was allmost as shinney as OEM! and there wasnt the holes for the "H" emblem! Do the Mugens come with a mesh in the scoupe thing????
