Hey Honda-Tech. I have yet another question for you guys. So I know my main relay is going out on my 88 CRX which doesn't make a clicking sound when i turn the key to the on position (Only Sometimes Though) , But recently i started noticing that after i turn the key to the on position (and i hear the main relay click) I turn the key to crank the motor and nothing happens. It's almost as if the battery is dead which i'm sure you guys can imagine. But i turn off the key and then back on and it turns on just fine. So I don't think It can be my battery. I was thinking that it might be my starter? What do you guys think? I don't want to purchase a new starter if i don't have to but i think that might be my problem? Any suggestions? It is not your starter. There is a relay in the dash that is known to go out. I have the same problem with my CRX Si and every time it does not start I tap on the dash on the driver side above the sunroof switch. (Sometimes I have to hit it a little harder then a tap) I here it click just like your hearing and then the car will start.

Its a problem that I have let go on for sometime now. I'm just to lazy to tare apart the dash to figure out which relay I have to order. If anyone knows what relay it is please let us know so we may replace it.

 

It's not the main relay is it? does this relay control your radio too? cuz my CRX is not starting, replace almost everything and still nothing...car doesn't start but my a/c (oustide air) still blows but no power to radio..battery is good...but no start...let me know which relay...or whatever it is your talking about

Should fix it so you knwo what it is and share what teh problem is...

Relay only controls the start of the engine. It does not control the radio.

Need more info on why your car does not start. Have you started another thread yet?

I know my relay is going out, But thats another problem. Even when i DO hear my relay click i turn the key to crank the motor and it sounds like my battery is dead. I turn the key to the off position and then back on to crank it and it starts up just fine. Sometimes it just does it once, sometimes it does it 4 times and sometimes it doesn't even do it at all. But something funny that i did today was take out a bunch of wiring to an old alarm that was on my car which didn't work anymore and now it doesn't do it? Haha, I'm trippin out now

 

my car does the exact samething gotta 90 crx sometimes starts fine other times i gotta sit there for 5 min really sucks im gonna take out my starter tomorrow and get it tested

 

if you want to see if your starter is good, if you have access to a test light see if you have power to the B+ terminal if you do then your starter is bad, if you don't then obviously you have a different problem.

 

b+ terminal?
