Default SI WING ON S2k

i did a few quick searches and such searched for specs on google for just the si wing and then wanted to compare to the cr wing but still little to no info...i was wondering if anyone has any info on mounting points and distances between them and maybe if the curve of the wing fits nicely or not on the s2k. i could just get the cr wing from the dealer but personally i can get a nice si wing painted for cheap...and plus being different is always better.... i just dont want to go and buy one and be SOL any info is helpfull thanx

please for the love of god....Don't put a wing on an S2K, unless you are SERIOUSLY tracking the car.

And no, the Si wing is too wide. And would look retarded.

the way the powerband reacts in this car, it's definitely not meant to be a daily driver kind of vehicle. Usable torque down low=none.

Driven properly (aka spirited) yields driving pleasure

Obviously its going to be different than an inline 6 in a bimmer.

Ap1 or Ap2?</TD></TR></TABLE>

Ap2 of course. The fit and finish, improvements, and appearance of the Ap2 to me is lightyears beyond Ap1.

I have driven the s2k on several occasions. I drove one in 2000 when I was working at the Honda dealer.

Then again in 2004 on a closed course.

Both experiences were fantastic. I was committed to buying one in 05 after I sold my untuned Prelude Type SH and moved to the south so daily driving it would be worthwhile. However, the M3 I have now I came across by chance and after 5 minutes of driving it I knew I had to have it.

3 years on, and the BMW I6 has changed me. I use to love the peaky powerband and VTEC hit of the non I-VTECs. But with 240trq down low is just too addicting.

My impressions of the S2k after driving it a couple of weeks ago was dissapointment. I said to myself "it needs boost". I have never drven a car with 240hp and 1trq at 8k rpm. At least thats what it felt like. I was serious to try the S2k as its definetly a car Ive always liked.

Plus I dont have a cool hairstyle or beanie to wear when the top it down. So i look like an idiot.

M power has ruined me.

And with a brother that works in Japan for Toyota with access to an massive array of cheap JDM tuning pieces....you guys should have seen the list of boutique parts that I was gonna drop.

I wanted the AP2 because its my understanding that some suspension geometry and braking system optimization was done. I track my car nearly every month in the spring/summer/fall. I wanted the best package I could pay for with cash -no loans. And a used Ap2 with its improvements was the best on paper vs AP1 in those aspects.

Plus, all the preowned Ap1s in the southeast are crap for the most part.

Either way, for someone that drives 20 miles everyday at highway speeds, the AP1/2 the cabin is still superloud wind noise, highway passing power makes downshifting necessary (m3 plant right foot = 100 mph in top gear no problem), the ride was very choppy, and at 6' 3" 180lbs, cabin room and visibility was a problem.

So it turns out what I really need is a SMG II white E46 m3 with no sunroof. Finding one is impossible, so Im not going to buy anything.

with my AP1, I'll probably be buying the CR suspension pieces rather than going aftermarket.

I know exactly what you mean that the s2k doesn't "feel" fast. That's just it, the lack of torque doesn't make it feel as quick as it really is.

I guess it's got more of an exotic feel in power delivery than most american styled sports cars, like the 350z and those low-revving high tq v8 machines.

I came from having a 400whp turbo 350z about a year ago, so the s2k is definitely a change.....but I LOVE how it handles and looks.

My Z ran a 12.5 @ 114 on street tires (30psi) and 8psi boost. So it definitely felt hella faster than the S, lol.

I'd go CR because it's stock, simple, more aggressive than my ap1, and adjusted properly. I'm no expert, so I wouldn't know how to best set up the suspension via dampening controls. And if I had the money and wanted a good suspension that could be set up properly, I'd probably get KW variant 3's for the compression and rebound dampening control.

The car is fun on boost. Yeah I get what your talking about thats why im leaving mine stock for now. The CR is stiffer then the ap2 but I dont know how much more then the Ap1... being able to stick with OEM is always nice..

yea the ap2 was upgraded parts from the ap1... but if you're going to be modifying the car, you might as well get the cheapest one and upgrade everything. thats why id rather spend $15k on an ap1 and $5k in mods, rather than $20k on a bone stock ap2

im 6' and 180lbs, i fit perfect in the car

btw the price of CR suspension pieces = aftermarket coilovers

CR suspension for less than one grand easily over-performs many 2-3k+ jdm coilover

dont go by my word, check out the SCC's report/shoot out

bingo. I read that article just before I bought the car. I figure with CR suspension and sways, a nice strut bar and some add on pieces should make for a fine handling car with stock ride.

compare to japanese coilover at 20k rate?

one thing for sure, those cr on the shorter course are very very fast, there's couple in SOW on my last track day i can't even seem to catch them with stock suspension. The **** end looks very planted, it could be the wing plus the suspension.

yeah, come to think of it, it does have some aero advantages over non CR. I'd have to research those too.

totally, i am on the same boat, i have a mega size ricer wing in my garage just waiting for me the install. I am holding out to buy a busted trunk to bolt on so i can swap my oem trunk for track day(and not having to drive that pos around everyday)

as much as i hate the look of big wing, they seem to be needed for our tail happy little chick car

and to the op: si mugen wing looks bigger than the evo wing

incase the link fails:http://z.about.com/d/cars/1/0/c/w/08_mugensi_wing.jpg
