Removing axle and now boot is stretched?
Ahhh !!!
Ok, now that that is out of the way, lol
I was pulling my motor the other day and while removing the driver's side axle / intermediate shaft, I pulled on the axle to fully pop it out and, now I think I might have screwed myself.
The Boot is now stretched out like the axle has popped out of place, has anyone experienced this before? My buddy said I should be able to pop it back in if I can align the "grooves" right. I tried this but had no luck.. am I just not using enough man juice
any help would be great!

just undo the boot strap, pull the boot back and align it again then put the boot back on
just make sure you have new boot strap
just make sure you have new boot strap
to the OP...
have a friend hold the inner joint while you hold the shaft. PULL slightly and TWIST back and forth to try to re-align the bearings inside. if that doesnt work, get a dead blow hammer and stand the axle up with the inner end on the bottom so its nice and flat (with some cardboard under it) and then pound down on the outter joint until the inner pops back into place.
pain in the ***, but it usually works.

use a pry bar or a cv joint puller with slide hammer.</TD></TR></TABLE>

WOW, no banging on axles, all your going to do is chip something causing problems down the road. cut off bigger boot strap and re-align the rectangles inside, they have a groove for each, if a rectangle turns on its side it definitely wont ever go back in until you take it apart. get a new strap and call it a day, most straps require a boot strap tool also to tighten it.
ha yeah im having this problem in my car. im going in later to fix this problem, so i just need to get new boot brackets? do i have to get any new grease to put in there??

just get a new boot kit from honda, they're like 35 bucks it comes with a boot , to new straps and a tube of grease. I don't like to reuse boots, make sure you burp it before you tighten the straps regardless which way you go so you dont make a mess in your engine bay
