Default S1 JDM B16a cable tranny with Richmond spool: no reverse!

Look, I have all five forward gears, but I can't even pull the shifter into the reverse slot in the shift pattern. We took the trans back out, but don't know what to look for.

Any input whould be great.

I am thinking it is a linkage problem inside the tranny. We have been messing with it for a couple of days now. The thing is, we cannot get it to activate the reverse linkage. There are three fork/levers that can slide either up or down, but whenever we get the selector inside of the reverse fork/lever slot, it always slips back into the fork/lever slot in the center. The center slot being between the other two slots. I can activate all of the gears except for reverse.

There is no possibility that the synchros or sleeves could have been [freak]ed up since we only removed the shafts so that we could remove the old factory carrier and install the new Richmond spool. It's like as if reverse is impossible. I am about to give up and just get another tranny. However, I want to give it a chance since that would run me alot of money that I might could save if I can figure it out.

I need several good and close up pics of the linkage assembly inside of an S1 cable tranny. These pics need to illustrate how things are supposed to look, etc.

I think there has got to be some sort of hope. I'm stumped.

can you take a picture of what you have.

the shifter mechanism inside the trans has a "dowl" running through it, make sure it is in place in the "housing" of the mechanism, its got a hole that it fits into.
