91 Integra, Great Compression but burning white smoke and overheating
Just bought a 91 Integra for cheap. Has 220K and the orignal one owner had just about everything you can think of done over the years. Timing belt & Headgasket about 2K ago. Antifreeze is leaking a little on the outside (still figuring from where). But anyhow, it's burning white smoke which I know is coolant, I just did a dry compression test and from left to right it's reading 192,186,192,195. I heard if compression is good than it's not the rings or a bad head gasket, what are some other things I can look for? I'm not new to this site to please don't tell me to search, I did. Just created a new name because I haven't been on in forever and I guess it got deleted. Thanks for any quick help!!
Correction, it's blue smoke not white. The compression still reads the same. 2K ago when they had the timing & head gasket done they rebuilt the head because of 2 bent valves, they always did valve stem seals at the same time. I'm waiting to pull this apart until I have a better idea, I was thinking maybe the valve stem seals are bad or put in wrong, but not sure. Anyone have any ideas on this one?
Here's my thinking. It's either going to be valve stem seals or pistion rings, just not sure which one. Anyone have any ideas to test either one?

Not true. And yes, a search should have given you the correct answer. IE - A compression test only tells you part of the story. Add a leak-down test to it with special attention paid to where the air is going using your auditory diagnostic tools and you will have your answer.
As for your rings, it is not uncommon for the top compression rings to still be functioning properly while the oil control rings are shot. Results - good compression while still burning oil.

Ok so I was right in thinking it could be the rings even though the compression is good.
I would also say its your rings. 220K most honda's will smoke on full accel / decel. I just add a bottle of bardahls no-smoke formula that I get from walmart and it 90% of the blue smoke goes away.
Not a permanent fix though.

Ok well the whole motor is apart. Last thing I did before I left work is pulled the pistons. Just have to hone the walls and install the new pistion rings and back together she goes. Any advice on anything else I should look at before it goes back. The headgasket & timing belt are pretty fresh.
Ok, ripped apart everything and completed it today. Installed new rings like I mentioned. Only problem is that it still smokes. I only left it running for about 5 mins. or so. A friend of mine said the rings could not be seated properly yet, if thats true how long would that take?
Also, if that's not the problem what else am I missing for burning oil?

i was in the same problem as you. and i agree with checking the intake mani for leaks. that is where mine was and it smoked. fixed that problem and she runs clean as anything, like it just came off the lot and never been rebuilt with 220k plus miles.
