I am getting ready to purchase a 1993 Honda civic DX with 175,000. I have never owned and only test driven one of these cars, and to be quite honest I wish I would have done so long ago! Back to the point, I am new and am not really sure what all these cars are all about, the one im looking at has been in a slight fender bender. It appears both front fenders, hood, and even the radiator support have been damaged, but the car runs and drives great with no leaks! I was curious as to how much damage these cars can handle before becoming a major issue? The car is priced really well and I know I can get the parts relatively cheap but if I need to replace the radiator support does that mean ive got more damage than i realize? The driver side fender, front of the car, hood was hit so where they pinched the power steering reservoir and broke it. I test drove it yesterday and it seemed to drive straight, and well. I know its about time for the timing belt to be replaced again, but is there anything else i should be aware of?n FYI it is a 5 speed and like i said everything worked great. Also at an idle it seemed like it had a miss? or slight pop every once in a while at the exhaust. No lights on the dash. Thanks for all your help.

have you looked around or are you dead set on this car....i think you could find a better canidate.but if your going to buy that car i would take it to a shop and have it checked to make sure the frame isnt bent or anything like that,then do a compression and leak down test to make sure the motor is in good shape...good luck.hondas are very fun cars to own im sure you will enjoy it

 

well, like all cars... a vehicle that was in an accident and has damage, you always want to take extra precautions. If this is the one car you want, take it in and have it checked out since your new to them. If you felt like everything was good and the price isnt too high, i suppose you could go for it! worst case scenario, you turn around and sell it!

 

Well the price is $1600, you guys tell me if that is a deal or not? The car is for fuel mileage because the Diesel dually im driving to work right now is absolutely killing me! However I would like to eventually make it nice again. Before the accident it was at about 34 mpg...or so they say. Opinions?

 

i dont know man..1600 is kinda steep with all that body damage,i think you could do better just keep looking around

 

Where else can I look? ebay is a great place but seems like you cant get a good deal anymore because these cars are in such demand. and the auto rv doesnt have anything good in it right now.

 

check out craigslist or bargainnews.com but then again i dont know were your from..

Check your local newspaper's, autotraders, secondhand paper's, etc. Hell there's a good condition 94 DX in a local paper here for $900 with no body damage. You just have to bide your time and eventually a good deal will come up.

 

i would go pick up a local auto trader and start there

Seems like a bad deal to me.

I'd check cars.com and autotrader.com plus the other sites recommended too.
