Question About a motor something is alittle fishy
My buddys little brother just got his license and recently bought a 90 CRX SI . The Motor that's in it reads Just ZC on the block it is DOHC Looks like a vtec soloniod. The kid that he bought it off of said that the bottom end was built for turbo and has dish type pistons . I did a compression test on the motor and I only got to the first 2 clyinders o nthe vtec side and their in the 115 and 120 range is that supposed to be that low if it was just rebuilt I thought the compression after a motor was rebuilt would be 180. I would expect it to be atleast no lower than 160 on all of them.
1)Would these different sized pistons is the compression in the clyinders normal?
2)Also is this a JDM D16 motor that is DOHC?

You got a picture of this motor?
Those compression numbers are awfully low. Hope that your friends brother didn't get scammed into buying a bunk motor (which might have been boosted previously). Did the guy even say what kind of pistons were installed and what the compression ratio was supposed to be?

Of course there is a DOHC zc motor - MOST people with EF's that say "ZC" are talking about the DOHC ZC, it was a very very popular swap in the 90's. Those motors are not vtec though.

i was drunk i meant no dohc zc with vtec. he said he saw a vtec solenoid. lol. im actually considering a mpfi swap and dohc zc right now.
