Ok well this is the issue. Im having issues with bending rear cross members so bad in my crx that it will pull my shift linkage out of the rubber boot that hold the linkage up. This is the second one in two trips to the track. The car has Hasport Motor mounts with the hardest rubber they offer for drag racing and Full Race front cross memeber. The car makes crazey torque and that not really helping. What are some idea that will eliminate this issue. I really cant wait for some ideas i'm ready to kill the car.
I am assuming that the engine rocks backward, damaging the rear cross member?
Maybe you could fabricate some kind of front engine mount to keep the engine from pivoting to the rear, and rocking back. This would allow you to distribute the forces to your front cross member as well as the rear cross member.
You could also try to weld "support beams" to strengthen the rear cross member at the points where it is bending.
the solution is probably a combination of the two, but what do I know. Wait to see what others have to say. good luck

where on the crossmember is it bending? also were the "new" crossmembers NEW or just from the junkyard. its possible the used ones were rusted inside making them weaker. try a new one and gusset it where it seems to bend. I would have thought the rear L bracket would bend before the crossmember. if the motor is rocking that much maybe go with solid mounts, screw the rubber, hasport makes solid billet inserts no rubber
Did you pound the lip down in front of the mount like the instructions said?
With the lip folded down I havn't had any problems with mine with over
300 1/4 mile runs.

It is bending rirht were the motor mount it attached. And yea the replacement cross member was used but I didnt notice any kinda of rust or roting. And what is the the L bracket the gringoo speaks of?
if its bending where the mount attaches the motor is flexing too much. either gusset a new crossmember maybe weld some 1/4" thick steel to it. or weld in a fourth front mount or run solid mounts

Yeah I second the idea of reinforcing it with 1/4 plate steel. You could get really serious before the current one breaks, get another crossmember and remove the bracket the mount bolts to, weld plate steel there and re-weld the bracket back onto the plate steel. You'd rip the mount points out of the body before that would break.

so right were the motor mount bolts to the cross member you say weld a 1/4 in plate and then re-drill the holes and remount the rear mount.
