i have a 97 civic ex 1.6 sohc. i put a 1.6 out of a 00 civic lx in my 97. there is this vtec valve on the old engine but not on the new one. do i need this valve? and is there a way to bypass it.

LX engines don't have Vtec. So no you don't need the valve. You shouldn't have to bypass it either.

 

what shall i do with the jack for it leave it unplugged . i talked to a guy at a honda dealer and he didnt know what it was used for.....

 

If you mean the plug on your engine harness then yes, leave it unplugged.

 

you might want to which out ECU because you might throw a Vtec code since the new motor you have is not vtec or maybe you did that already if so don't worry about the Vtec wire it can stay disconnected nottin is going to mess up your motor
