Default Old School Japanese car show coming to SoCal

The fourth annual Japanese Classic Car Show is coming to Orange County on October 12. Now is the time to register your old Honda for a great event. It does not have to be a "show" car, maybe the best part of this show is seeing the rusty survivors that are still daily drivers out here in California.

I'm going to this for sure. Might bring my '81 Accord.

I was surprised to see this pristine '81 Accord at the Motoring J-Style show last month.

The number of Hondas at the show was disappointing. Only about 5 or 6 total. More like a Nissan / Toyota car show.

that's what they are all like. there are just more popular old-school yotas and nissans out there.

i'll be back there some day. i just am broke. and i probably wouldn't take my car there. out of state plates on a modded honda would be prime target !!

No! Enter the car! This is not something like a Show Off or HIN. This is all about celebrating old Japanese cars, shiny or not.

In fact, the most interesting cars are the "works in progress." Frankly, those over prepared, gleeming trailer queens are kind of boring. I would much rather see a car that gets driven.

The Nissan/Datsun and the Toyota guys dominate these shows, the old Honda community is always too afraid to display their cars. I expect that there will be maybe a half dozen CRXs and a couple of Integras. It would be so cool to see some hatchies and sedans at the show.

My CRX is far from being "done" but I got my car's picture into a Japanese car magazine (Car Boy) just because it was a representative example of what lives on the streets of LA. Back in Japan, cars older than a couple years old are crushed. The enthusiasts over there LOVE to see old cars that are daily drivers.

Damn that is a clean old car. You better be bringing that to the show!

Worth? Not that much. Let's face it, it is just a wheezy little carbed Civic. As much as I like old cars, new cars a just sooooooo much better in every way.

This is a classic example of a real conundrum. Do you preserve this old survivor due to its minty fresh look? Or do you drop a K20 into it and build the ultimate sleeper? It is easy for me to tell you to preserve this old beauty, keep it perfectly stock for future generations to appreciate. But I would want to the modern power in such a light little package.
