Does the weight of the wheels make a big diff. in 1/4 mile times?
Hey, I have a 96 accord ex, and was ready to look for some wheels and tires. I really liked the Racing Hart S7's, but they are freaking 24lbs each. Now when you compare that to the 15lb rota wheels, does that make a big difference on 1/4 mile times? I have a nitrous h22a and am having a lot of wheel hop probs. My shocks are on the way but I NEED tires. Im going to get 17's for sure, but is going from 15-->24 lbs a big diff? Im also going to get yokohama parada spec 2's for tires, but am worried about the weight of the wheels. Any experience welcome. Thanks
Yeah, I think that would make a big diff. If anything I think you should try to get lighter wheels, not heavier.
Get your big wheels and keep your stock steelies or rims for drag racing. Most regular street tires work well at the strip with 25-30 psi.
well, I have the stock ex wheels and yokohama tires. It works alright, but im having traction problems. Im only at a 50hp shot, with the progressive controller. So when the nitrous hits, its only at like 20hp, then goes up to 50. And Im having a lot of wheel hop. My tokico illuminas are on the way to help with the wheel hop, but I would like to get some nice wheels and tires that will help. I dont really like the rota wheels, but is 9lbs a lot in terms of times? My accord is running with the z28s so im thrilled.

sorry yeah I did. I have the polyurethane front tranny mount. I didnt notice too much difference, just a little more vibration in the car. But on the track, its iffy.
Why don't you just get some slicks for the track? I hear that tracks are very slippery, and probably the worst place to get traction out of all the places you drive. That could be the reason you are spinning so badly.

try letting some air out your tires too....it will give you a slightly larger contact patch and a little bit more grip...and yes...9 pounds is a lot in terms of wheel weights....i don't know what the weight is of the stock wheels but rota's would be your best bet for the track....
