Default Aftermarket halogen bulbs

You know on the top of the bulb there is a painted portion?[IMG] [/IMG]

What is this painted part for? Can it be removed? If so, how do you remove it? Solvents? Scraping?

That cap is to block direct light from leaving the end of the bulb. It is a low beam bulb. You want that cap there, to help prevent glare.
