Default IROC--What are your opinions

Along the same lines as the NASCAR thread... how many feel that the IROC series is a complete waste of time?

Colin McRae had a fun idea in challenging Schumacher to a F1/WRC dual for charity. What would be the ideal format for a series to show the best all around driver?

Porsche Supercup cars at Monaco
Spec Racers at Mid-O
Toyota Atlantic cars at Milwaukee
Sprint cars at (wherever Sprint cars race... Idunno)
etc.

Maybe my brain-fade is too far gone. Wasn't there a time when it was M3's and Carreras and F-bodys from year to year - spec cars provided by a manufacturer on multiple venues (road/street/oval) with a sampling of racers from Oval and Road Race backgrounds? Am I confusing series - I am thinking back to the late 80's/early 90's with a bunch of guys running M3s or 325s or something of the like and they were Nascar and Indy guys (or so my feeble mind recalls). That, I thought was a cool idea - IF I am remembering it correctly.

My recollection is that, in order but without any specific years attached, it was Porsches, Camaros, Chryslers and then Pontiacs. I don't remember any BMWs, but you might be thinking of the European Procar series, with the M1s?

It would be REALLY cool if they would run at least one road course event but they tend to put them into the schedule at NASCAR's highest profile events.

They put them on the tracks where the drivers don't have to lift... And IROC road race would be sweet...

I know they ran the Dodge Avenger for a while, and the Daytona before that... I figure if anyone knew when the Camaro and Daytona IROC models came out, that'd put a good label on what years they were run in the series

1 small dirt oval
1 large paved oval like Michigan
1 natural roadcourse
1 rally event

Car? Identically prepared Yack-craps Seriously though... I'm not sure.

Interesting to see the list of drivers from the '70s:

I had planned to but I've been working on a project with an ALMS team so I was at Mid-Ohio working (hey, someone has to do it).

It's still my intention to make at least on H-C race this year but there are scheduling conflicts with each of them. The next two races conflict with Mid-Ohio dates, which often have ~30 car ITA fields. I'd like to make VIR but it's the same weekend as Petit LeMans and I may be there with the ALMS guys again.
