Is it possible to fit a 1.8 Vtec engine into a 1.6 Vtec auto shell

To be more descriptive....and whether it's worth it or not...
I have two car's, a 98' 1.8 Vtec manual and a 99' 1.6 Vtec auto, and would like to know if it's feesable to put the 1.6 in the 1.8. One thing however is that I read somewhere that the 1.8 and 1.6's gearbox arent the same, therefore "marrying" a auto box with the manual wont work...is this right?
Also are the electric's the same (as I did a small search and read that as long as it's both Vtec's it shouldnt be to much of a prob, or maybe it is) It's just that I like the 1.8 being a dohc, and like having the auto for ease, but like just a bit more ooomp.
Like I say, this is just a thought, not a goer.....yet!

ok so im guessing you have a 98 integra gsr and a 99 civic ex and you want to put the gsr motor and trans in the ex correct?
it'll take a lot more effort and parts to put that GSR motor into the auto shell given the auto D series tranny will not fit the B series motors. Actually no d series tranny will bolt up to any b series motor. If it's the 99 front end you like just do a swap of the front end. It's not too hard.
