Default Missing Plugs? LS Swap...

Ok, dont flame me too hard, this is my first swap, still new to Hondas, less then a year now... not cars. Ok Heres the situation, I got my swap all done, and it runs great, But I was getting a code #7 which is TPS, I just put a used TPS on the car. I then notice that I evidently missed a plug, cause there is a plug just chilling there behind the intake, 2 round plugs come out the same harness, one is TPS and the other is just there, So I look at the Haynes manual for a teggy and put the one plug on the TPS and the other on the map, just cause the colors of wires matched what the book said, Then it ran like crap and threw a map sensor code. The wire coming to the MAP sensor comes from behind the battery area, and with that plugged in throws no codes for map and idles good. So Im still left with one plug from that 2 split that isnt going to anything, and a TPS code that wont go away, even after switching the 2 plugs and resetting the ECU. Sorry if I sound like a dumbass, still learning the game, On a plus side Im Honda fan for life, cause this swap was relativly easy and is perfect balance for a daily driver

Did you use a different engine harness than the original? '92 - '93 civics that came with the D15B7 had a firewall mounted map sensor and for some reason honda choose to run a seperate harness just for that as you stated from behind the battery area, '94 - '95 civics that came with the D15B7 however had a throttle body mounted map sensor and the wiring is integrated into the the engine harness, if you used either a '94 - '95 civic harness or a 'teg harness than you will have an extra map sensor plug, use the one that comes from the battery area as the other one isn't actually connected to anything, the wires go to the shock tower plug on the engine side, but there is nothing on the other side of the plug. As for you TPS sensor i'm kind of at a loss there, its still possible you ended up with a bad TPS, if it was me i'd try another one and see what that does

OP your first post is kind of confusing, but I am thinking this ^ guy nailed it. I am going to *guess* that you ARE using a Teg harness or a 94-95 Civic harness, therefore you have TWO MAP connectors, one coming from near the battery (for the external MAP) that you have connected to the MAP sensor and the other one I *guess* you may have plugged into the TPS accidentilly, giving you CEL code #7 for faulty TPS.

Although I am a bit confused...

Sorry for confusion, after reading through it, I can see it wasnt worded the best, The car is a 93 DX which explains the firewall mounted plug, Engine harness is from the 94 Integra I yanked it from.

Thanks for the help! That explains alot!! Other then why I cant get the TPS code cleared, I've reset the ECU a few times, I hope I didnt get a bad TPS

Also just to confirm this book was right, what color wires go to the TPS its a 94 Teg Harness

Reading this post made my stomach drop.....

I will soon be in a similiar boat, and need advice.

I have a 93 cx,....with a 95 LS swapped in, using the integra engine harness........now this will get confusing, I bought the car with no motor.....previously swapped by previous owner was an F2xx..... don't know what the previous owner did, but the firewall map sensor is no longer there... I also don't see an extra plug anywhere...How many wires is it, and what colors? [stock 93 civic]....does the firewall map plug attach the the vehicle harness? Not seeing anything near the battery tray.
To make matters worse, the instrument cluster is from another vehicle,...so i don't know if it is even hooked up correctly....no check engine light with key switched to on.

TPS wire colors for '94 teg are:
red/black
yellow/blue
green/blue

To hefftone79
you state that you have a '93 CX, if its a US CX you shouldn't have a problem, they came with a D15B8 that had a throttle body mounted map sensor, canadian models however came with a D15B7, and you will run into the issues above, but on the upside the 4 wire 02 sensor wiring is already there if its canadian. In relation to canadian/us this refers to where the vehicle was originally to be sold, it does not refer to where the vehicle was assembled. the map sensor harness on '92 - '93 civics equipped with the D15B7 runs directly from the ECU out through the firewall to the TPS, it has 3 wires, the colors are as follows:
green/white
yellow/red
white

Thanks for your help....

My Georgia title says US model....vin breakdown shows built in canada and serial begins with 5 so......US model I presume?
2HGEH2354PH5xxxx8

2---- CANADA
H---- Honda
EH2- Civic 3 Door, 1.5L
3---- 3 Door Hatchback, Manual
5---- CX Civic (1993)
4---- CHECK DIGIT
P---- 1993
H---- Alliston, Canada

Helms seems to show canada models starting with 000,001, and US model 500,001...or am i wrong?

I would'nt know how else to verify, since original ecu, engine, engine, harness, transmission and gauge cluster were never in my possesion.

So assuming the car is a US model, using my 95 integra engine harness....are there any corresponding wires that the chasis harness would be missing? (such as 4-wire O2 sensor, etc?)

I'm not sure about what helms says on the vin, but the easiest way i know of to see if its US or Canadian is to check under the hood, see if it has the factory daytime running light module, canadian cars do, US doesn't, also Canadian CXs don't normally have any airbags and have a 3 spoke steering wheel the same as the JDM SiR wheel, actually most '92 - '95 civics lack airbags in Canada. Hope that helps

Forgot to add the daytime running light is in the back corner of the engine compartment on the drivers side, its about 2 x 3 inches if i remember right and has a big yellow sticker on top to warn you that it gets hot.
