Default B series Water pump interchangeability

I'm about to do a full tune up on a motor I just bought. It's a 97 B18b1. I was just wondering if I could use a water pump from other B series. Thanks alot.

Yes but if your going to do it, do it right and get a gs-r water and oil pump they have a kit you can buy with everything you need. Just search ebay!

No, do not use an ebay kit especially for the water pump. I have the same year and engine as you and what you should do is get a 97' GSR water pump, timing belt, tensioner, spring, tensioner bolt. All in all it cost me around $200 and I did it myself. It fixed my issue of a squealing water pump bearing. Make sure to clean the corrosion up from where the water pump gasket goes. PM me if you have any issues during install because it was tough doing it for the first time by myself.

At the minimum, you need the timing belt and water pump.

The oil pump is optional, and the tensioner, spring and bolt are just additional maintenance.

Thanks for the help everyone. The motor is not in the car yet so everything should be pretty easy.

You are one lucky **** then! However, you may need to lay the motor on it's side.
