My a/c wasn't cold enough so I went to recharge it yesterday using one of those cans and I think I screwed something up, now every time the compressor engages it makes a little sucking sound, almost sounds like its got hick-ups, and rpm's fluctuate like crazy. Is this a sign of maybe air in the system or something? how can I check that?

Any Ideas on what it might be or how I can fix it? its a 2001 lx.

I overcharged mine while trying to diagnosis the problem and it did the same thing. I would let some of the freon back out. I believe running it with too much could actually lock up your pump and the RPM issue is because your car has to work harder to spin the pump. In any case i would not run your AC until you check your low and high side pressures.

and is the A/C suppose to be running when i do this?
