Oh... OH so THIS is why my wheel bearing failed after 15K miles...
Wow that is from King? Do you have picture of both sides of the bearing. When I replaced mine I put it in the same way I saw the previous bearing was done but I am not sure if that was in correctly.

Is this in the correct way? I have not seen any problems yet but maybe they are coming...

WoW, that is crazy that as much experience you would think King has with this, and they make a ROOKIE mistake....
I feel I should mention this seeing as how my buddy Ryan (fst teg 1) had problems with King Motorsports about a year and a half ago.
Long story short...
Ryan bought the Hondata S300. Clayton installs/soldiers everything and says we are ready to go and throw it in the car. We make the drive home (2-3 hours). Ryan does what he needs to put it in the car. Has all sorts of problems getting it to work and eventually it just stops working. Ryan phones King, talks to Clayton, Clayton denies he did anything wrong and refuses to take responsibility for the work.
So Ryan makes the 3 hour drive up and Clayton/King refuse to take action for their screw-up and the only thing they'll do is give Ryan a P28 for free but he would have to buy the S300 again. Ryan proceeds to tell Clayton to go [freak] himself. Ryan drives home with a botched S300/P72 ECU.
I have read about a few other instances with some members on here about King's business practices of late. If it is any conciliation well, nobody at the place was really friendly to us either.

I guess I'm thankful to do "most" of my work myself, and when i have something that I cant do, my best friend is a mechanic at honda. If I cant do it, I sit there and help/watch him do it
. Atleast if I screw it up, its my own fault and I can call myself a dumbass all i want.Sorry this happend scott! Hopefully the faulty wheel bearing didnt discolor dem calipers
did you contact king at all recently with this info? even though 15k miles ago, the last hands to touch them was from their shop. maybe it would help someone else later down the line who chooses king for service, but that bites, money-wise and time-wise...not to mention safety.
i would call them, people make mistakes. best that could happen is warranty for service.

I wouldnt want any warranty on any service because I dont want them touching anything on my car again.
I see them saying "oh wow, that sucks". And not much else. </TD></TR></TABLE>

WOW, that is complete poo-dick Scott
. I can only imagine that you're located pretty far away from King so warranty work would be out of the question anyway.
Seems like you got the right idea though: fix it yourself, blaze one up and move on

If that bearing is an aftermarket bearing then it might be different but the Honda ones have two different sides and Honda specifies the correct way to press it in. It is also very possible that the extra circlip that was installed on mine helped to wear the driver side much faster.

Mine is an OEM Honda bearing. The odd thing is that I do not recall having the bearing markings like yours shows on the incorrectly done one. Also I don't recall the seal being black on either side. I guess I will see if I get failure on the bearing. Very odd that you had an extra circlup there as there is really no room to put two if the bearing is put in. When I pressed my new bearing in, there was only room for one circlip.

Well I certainly can't say that I never made any mistakes when I worked there. I'll personally apologize to you here - I'm sorry you had that experience. If it was previously socketed ECU, that could have been part of the problem. Regardless we should have gotten you a functioning ECU. I don't recall the exact circumstances.

It happened awhile ago so there is no real need to apologize. Things worked out somewhat and Ryan was able to eventually sell the ECU with the problem. I didn't really mean to stir up any old feelings or anything like that. But the ECU in question was a virgin P72. Everyone makes mistakes, my intention was just to point out that things could have been handled a little bit better thats all.
