Default Do I need new motor mounts?

I have a '96 Accord EX wagon (so, VTEC F22B1 and auto). The car shakes a little too much at idle in gear. I suppose this is normal but could it be improved with new motor mounts? How would I know which mounts need to be replaced? How much would that cost? I'm looking to damp vibration; I don't race. With this in mind, is there anything better than OEM?

Have someone rev the engine a little bit and then hold it. Look for any type of shaking in the motor mounts.

And stockies are fine

theres always better than OEM but if its just a daily driver then OEM will work just fine

I will have to disagree with this statement. OEM Honda is probably better than most general after market parts out there. Until you start getting into the specialty stuff like engine internals and lowered suspension. Even then stock is better than 60% of the garbage lowering kits out there when it comes to reliability. Bu8t who am I kidding the ricer down the street isn't looking for reliable he's looking for cool

To the OP, I would take a look at the front mount by doing what Muffinman suggested. I have found that it is the most likely to fail first in most cases.

I know it will be hard but you can try and get a look at the rubber and check for damage.

Here is an example of a Honda bushing starting to wear out.

OEM mounts are fairly cheap for your car so don't worry

90% of the time i would tell someone to use OEM, especially motor mounts on a daily driver.
