I've been fighting a rich condition for some time now. I have a 95 coupe with a Obd1 b16a swap and the car sputters a little at idle and smells like gas. I'm assuming it is running rich, I have NO CEL and the motor runs very strong on the gas. The o2 sensor was replaced with a crappy universal bosch one a few years back and I'm fairly certain this is causing the problem. I'm just curious to what the odds of having a Lazy o2 sensor are? If anyone has had one please chime in if you replaced it and it fixed these similar symptoms. I've replaced all ignition equipment with oem and or ngk including a new distributor to no avail, and would rather start spending my money on more important things. Any help in the matter is appreciated.

what kinda ecu are you running?

do u know anyone that lives close to you that u can try another o2 out on ur car?

 

chipped ECU? likely the cause. (open loop)

P30? then the bosch is likely the cause.

then again a chipped ECU with closed loop or tuned well, the bosch O2 will cause problems also...

 

I'm running the original p30 and i was figuring bosch would be the culprit. Would i not get a code though, could it just be as simple as a faulty o2?

 

I just went ahead and ordered a new o2. I do remember reading that seafoam may contaminate the o2 sensor and i did seafoam my car a while back so i guess we'll find out.
