Due to other issues at hand I may be forced to sell my turbo kit, so I am looking for a block to buy, because I don't want my car to be a slug. It currently has a straight b16 in the car, with eagle rods and wiesco 9:1's. I am having a hard time finding a GSR block for a good price, so my friend has a few LS blocks, but I kind of want to keep the motor a straight VTEC motor. so I found a guy selling 1.7 B17 Block, only thing is wouldn't it be the same as having a b16 motor when it comes to torque? I just want to have a fun daily driver, not looking to make record breaking numbers, just want something fun. Car also has a LS trans so yeah it will be slower unless I find a cable b16 trans. Which block should I go with LS,B17,B16 or GSR? Really want to do a poormans type r, just want something fun, and low maint. and better on gas
may i ask why your selling the turbo kit??? you've already got the motor together id just boost it on low pressure for the time being....i dunno or maybe make do with the slow car until you got the cash together, in the long run it would be more expensive because you know your going to want to get a bigger motor or new build......hondata and a tune is all ud need for the turbo if you've got the kit already, and just be conservative on the driving and you may even get better gas mileage.......few thoughts there just rambling really.

the car is currently street tuned, it's quick and gas mileage is decent but my new job is a bit of a drive and this car is my daily driver. I can always build another boost motor, might not always have this job though. Car isn't giving me any issues it's just I want to do so much more, but have so little right now to get the full tune done, still need my 3Bar Map Sensor, and Walbro 255, plus money for dyno time and ECtune. Plus school loans are kicking my *** right now.
yeah school is a "B" i had to sell my EG because i couldn't pay for school. What about a stock LS with a b16 trans.......the added torque plays a large role in moving that car. When my b16 was stock it was always a close race with an LS stock....should be a bit nicer with the b16 trans......i don't know though ive never done it personally. might want to try to trade your semi built motor for a gsr motor....???
Ninja edit: either way you will probably have to tune it unless you buy a stock long block.....gsr ftw

yeah I would be fine with a stock LS with a b16 trans, but cable b16 trannies are hard to find for cheap and I still want to at least keep VTEC. My original LS motor that came out of my car has over 200,000 miles on it and with just a intake and 7lb flywheel I would be side by with gsr's all day! Best it ran in the 1/4 was a 15.2 in my full weight DA. This was all with the LS trans too.
