Racing Civics in Thailand
Honda holds a whole series of one make races around Thailand and last weekend we had one in Chiang Mai. By all accounts the track was difficult and the safety car came out in the majority of races which include events for the Jazz too.

Maybe I just didn't see it. Why don't they race Civic coupes? It seems like I only see sedans.

this is just a guess but possible body rigidity? alot of cars when comparing coupe to sedan the sedan generally has less body flex but im not sure about this car so dont hold it to me.

Actually we do race Civics in the US. There are several in the local SCCA SSB (Showroom Stock) class that do well against the BMW Z-4 and the Pontiac Solstice. The Sedan is stiffer and handles better than the Coupe so it is seen more on the track.
Civics and the Honda Jazz/Fit race in a series of events promoted by Honda. Details can be found by googling Honda Race Fest Thailand. I believe that they take place in Pattaya, Chiang Mai, Phuket and somewhere else. Most of the drivers have day jobs too as there's not enough sponsorship money to do more than defray expenses.
This event was on the perimeter roads of an exhibition venue built for the Royal Flora Expo in 2006. They are normally open to the public and this was the first time, though hopefully not the last, that a race will be staged there. The major drawback to the circuit is the punishing height of the kerbs which stand 6-8 inches above the road surface.
Thanks for your kind comments about the pictures - hope some of you took the opportunity to look over the rest of my pics of Southeast Asia http://www.wyndhamhollis.com
