LS/VTEC question
with the LS's 9:1 compression? and a PR3 head to lower compression even more? and is this a stock gs-r ecu? well, that setup might make 155/130 on a dynojet, if it had all the right provisions. If left stock, the ecu would look for the IAB's (Intake Air Bypass valves, the secondary butterfly valves in the gs-r's intake maifold) it will also look for a knock sensor, which the ls block isn't equipped with. so you'll have to chip the ecu or better, or you'll just sit in limp mode with several Check Engine Lights.
i might suggest using a vtec piston, for the vtec valve reliefs and some bumped compression. Maybe a P30 piston from a JDM B16, or a us itr or b16 piston or something. i wouldn't use gs-r pistons since they are flat-top (gs-r's gain compression from a smaller combustion chamber in the head).
so, basically, add some P30 pistons, and chip the ecu with a good tune, and you'll be golden. once you have that bumped compression, you can go with bigger cams, too. you'll want to upgrade your valvesprings to ITR units along with ITR lost motion assemblies (several cheap options here, just search) if you upgrade to other honda cams. or go with better valvesprings if you go with aftermarket cams.
just search around. with a stck ls block and b16 head in an ek with a crome chip, you'll run 14s or 15s. do the few mods i added, and it could put you in the 12s.
