alternator wire burned

alternator wire burned
battery would lose charge so did some troubleshooting
noticed there was no charge.
took alternator out and noticed the white wire burnt about 2 inches in.
cas has HIDs and only one engine to body ground...
any help on what might be causing my wire to burn like that..thanx
