unbolted transmission.. but it wont come off?
hey guys, so today I droped my B16 down through the engine bay..
I am changing my clutch, (Y1 cable tranny) but when I took off all the bolts that hold the tranny onto the block.. the trany wont slide off... I cant think of anything else that would be retaining it..
has this happened to anyone else?
any solutions?
Thanks in advance

There is one thing you could try.
let a man do it
j/k
Seriously though, are you 100% sure you've got all the bolts? they don't all thread in from the same direction.
also, you should remove the starter to make it easier.

Did you unbolt the the flywheel cover under the tranny? Theres a couple small bolts down there a lot of people miss... I even miss one sometimes and I know especially to look for them.
i third that. check that you have all the bolt off, even the little guys and it will still be tough toget off. i just did a clutch for a kid and i used a pry bar to help get the tranny off.

get a cpl guys to sit on the motor.
if it still doesnt work, let one of them try, frustration brings adreniline out of a percentage of ppl, and that may be all it takes.

if your sure that you got all the bolts then it should be the tranny mount or the half axle behind the block and if thats out then look again theres a bolt some where you missed.
the tranny mount is completely off, and the half shaft has been out.. I have been looking for a bolt for two days.. maybe I just need someone else to help out.. idk

there has to be a bolt that is still in there.....did u take off the bolt that is right under the clutch slave cylinder? or try taking off the flywheel cover cuz i think it makes it easier to rock the tranny back and forth...

okay everyone!! you can officially all take turns destroying me now.. as it turns out.. 89S1 and Tyson had it right all along.. It was the starter bolt that was [freak]ing me over.. I was just taking off the part that had the power going to it.. not the whole assembly.. because low and behold.. there was like a 6'' bolt going right from the starter to the block..
I really appreciate all your guys' help!!
I wouldn't be anywhere without all of you
im sure ill be back on here tonite for the reinstall..
anything I should remember while swaping the clutch??

Make sure you've got the right alignment tool, and dont touch the mating faces with your greasy fingers
I'm happy to help, just make sure you return the favour for someone on here if you can one day in the future.
Also, thanks for saying thanks too, its nice to feel appreciated

19 ft lbs according to the shop manual across the hall in my workshop
*wondering why a DIY'er like yourself doesn't have one already*
they're available for download in PDF files even if you're too cheap to buy one
