Default what's teh difference between...?

Every time i read a forum about trannys, the words "Cable" and "hydro" come up. What is a "cable/hydro tranny" and what are the differences? Is one better than the other? how can i tell if i have one or the other? Thanks.

what year CAR do you have?

that is a better clue to what trans you have. any 88-00 d series tranny bolts to any 88-00 d series block

Hydro tranny = hydraulically controlled (you push a pedal connected to a Master Cyl/Slave Cyl)
cable tranny = cable controlled (you push a pedal connected to a cable)

If you have a clutch master cylinder on your firewall next to the brake MC, you probably have a hydro clutch/tranny.

If your car is a 5 speed, you have a hydraulic transmission.
