Well got to the dyno today to make a few passes. Setup is a Fully Built block and head D16y8. Ramhorn, 3inch dp with a BW258,skunk2 intake mani, zex 105100. The car wasnt making power like it should have and i only have 2 thoughts on why. Either one, boost is leaking or two the valves arent set right(thier is a ticking). The car made 272whp at 16psi. Then we raised it to 18psi and the power did not change at all. The car is running a 2.5 inch hot side and a 3 inch cold sided piping and makes full boost at around 6500 which i think is way to high. Thier are no vacuum leaks so i have to run some smoke through the piping to see if thier are leaks. My question is, say i readjusted the valves. Will this make me see more HP per pound of boost and just overall more power. Ive seen cars on a stock head 57trim make over 300 at 13-16psi.

That is very very similar to what happens with my civic, car make full boost at like 6k and don't make the desired #'s, with more boost, like 2 more pounds and the car makes the same power than with like 18... don't found the problem because the car broke in a race a day after dyno it.

We make the S258 and it should not be spooling that late at all. I will be glad to work with you to make sure your set up is right and that you make the power you are looking for.
I am going to need you to get intouch with me so we can go over some things to look at.
Please hit me up on my aim when you have a chance. You will find my aim name in my sig.

I spoke with him on aim for a good bit last night and he has several things he is going to look over.
He has a experienced tuner helping him on the dyno.
It's a new combo and you know how new combos go. They are never smooth right out of the box. I am sure he will get it figured out. A leak down test is a good idea.

oh wow I forgot all about that. It could be slipping the clutch. That would explain the power not going up with boost.
Good point man. Awesome!!

be sure to check for leaks in your turbo manifold, not just your charge pipes.
but, as stated above, the symptoms are most likley related to the clutch. Be sure that the rollers are set to the right weight of the car if they are adjustable.

Talked to tuner yesterday...the clutch wasnt slipping and dyno has no adjustment. I set valves today. It seemed alittle better until the car shut off yesterday and the igniter broke.

What do you guys think about this. Im running a Zex 105100 street n/a cam. Do you think that the valves are not staying open long enough to push that huge amount of volume through with the s258. I think i should go with a 59300 or a crower stage 2. What do you guys think?

im also running a bigger exhaust housing then u are...and i think the s258 is bigger than the urs..but my exhaust side is a 70a/r. Also what is your HP at 18psi on that stock cam?
Actually, the t3/t61 is bigger then the s258. Anyways, another way to test for boost leaks is to go to the hardware store and find some rubber tubing the same size as your compressor. Then get a pvc cap, hose clamps and a nipple like in a tire. Drill the hole through the cap and seat the nipple in the end of it. Place the cap on the one side with a hose clamp around it. Place the other end on the compressor. Then mix up a little dawn and water in a spray bottle and spray it everywhere you have clamps or connections. Off the turbo...where pipes connect...around the intercooler, throttle body, etc. Then with an air compressor pressurize the system where the nipple is. You can then watch your boost gauge. If there are no leaks the boost gauge will basically sit in one spot and you will not have any bubbles where you sprayed the water. If you do have leaks you will see where because of the bubbles and that the boost gauges drops. Hope this helps.
