Hey guys, well heres the scoop I just got my 97 integra GSR, and were still waiting to sell a vehicle(94 Grand Cherokee Laredo or 95 Integra LS for sale if your interested) and I was just playing around with my car and decided to take the intake box off. Ive taken the box off my 95 LS before and it makes that deep noise even with the stock filter and all, u know what im talking about, and with my GSR i took the box off, and that noise isnt there. It sounds the same as if i had the box on still?? Any suggestions what can be happening here, is my engine not sucking in air. The car seems to run alright, I havent driven it to much yet b/c no insurance till we sell another car. Let me know what you guys thing or if its not a big deal. Later

 

that does seem a bit odd, every honda i have ever owned..vtec and non vtecs made a deep throaty noise when the airbox was removed/lid taken off. take off the intake pipe and check its not blocked in anyway, there should be a noticeable noise difference because the resonator is not doing its job when the air box is open/removed

 

Intake box??.. You mean you took off the air filter box right?.. That's what I'm assuming since you wrote "stock filter".. Anyways, can you hear a hissing noise from the intake?? If not, you need to let more air into the engine. Adjust the throttle body so that more can be sucked in. The more you adjust it, the more of hiss there should be. And also, give it some time to get used to the intake. Don't forget to reset the ecu also. I had the same problem with my GSR, but now it sounds fine. Hope that helps.. Let me know how it goes..

GS-R intakes aren't that loud until the secondaries open up.

 

how abo9ut you stop being cheap and pay the whopping 175 for a AEM CAI then you will get a sweet sound. some HP gain and a sweet look under the engine plus it is easy as hell to install it takes about 1 hour
