Default Clutch not engaging

I was driving the car the other night and went to shift from 1st to 2nd and it felt like it wouldn't come out of gear. I realized that the clutch seemed like it wasn't engaging. I would push it in while in first and it would still want to pull. After a little while of me trying to get it to work it just started working fine.

I drive it around a few days without any problems then started it up this morning and it wouldn't go in gear. Is it possible that the clutch cable is stretched and not functioning properly? The car is an 89 HF and is pretty much stock.

Well i adjusted the clutch cable some and thought it helped. But it seems to still be doing it. I don't think the clutch is slipping but it just won't go into gear when i'm just sitting there.

Then if i get it in gear and i go to shift it's like it's still pulling and won't come out of gear.

it sunds like its time for a new clutch.. mine was getting worn.. and one night I was getting onto the freeway.. first gear was cool.. never engaged again.. the only part of your story that is wierd is that you said it would be fine sometimes..

this might not be much help.. but we had the same symptoms..

If the clutch disc was worn wouldn't it be slipping?

So after a little more messing with the car i noticed this. I adjusted the cable a little more and it seemed to be a little better.

When the car would be hard to go into gear i noticed that when the clutch was pushed down the pedal would kind of pop and go down just a little more then it would shift fine.

After about 30mins of driving i would push the clutch in and it would take a few secs to engage to where i could shift it. I'm thinking that the clutch is probably just bad?
