Oil light on after z6 swap into a 97 civic
I only took 3 hrs to take out the motor but it took 9 hrs to get it back in. We switched the crank sensor, alternator, distributor, and oil pump. So it started right up and ran fine but the oil light was on. Its not ticking or making and werid noises and I also pulled the oil fill cap off and its splashing oil out of it so I think it has oil pressure. My question is i had to use the y8 oil pick up with the z6 pan should that be a big deal? Are they different heigths? I checked the connector and its hooked up. After all that I took it for a ride anyway I went around a few blocks and notice that when I slowed down the light turned off. Anyone have any ideas I tried searching but it seems my problem is different then most. please help
Are the z6 and y8 oil pickups a lot different? I drilled out the 2 holes on the pan that didnt line up after I put on the y8 oil pump, Its not leaking. Is a z6 pan deeper then a y8 pan? Someone help!I would rather drive my civic instead of my vpower drinking integra.
Cliff notes: I went to swap in a d16z6 into 97 civic dx. Found a bunch of parts that were different that I had to swap, including a oil pump off of a d16y8. Now it runs but I have a oil light.
Should I just take of the d16y8 oil pump and figure out how to rewire the obd1 dizzy to the obd 2 car. The reason for changing the pump was the crank angle sensor that is attached to the oil pump which on older hondas is in the dizzy, right?

you sure the pressure sensor is pluged in tight? and its not busted terminal....
i know when i pulled my z6 from my old 94civic that plug was very tight and hard to snap back on fully. just a thought...

I took about 5minutes to make the oil pan work there are only 2 bolts that dont line up, I just drilled them out and it went on fine. But I did find out that my pump is bad and im in the process of ripping it back out, oh joy! Thanks for the info I wish it was a sensor. I unplugged the harness and the light turns off, so its not the harness. I switched the sensor and nothing happend, so on to the pump.
Any know how to bypass the cps on the oil pump in obd2 cars? Can I just run a wire over to the obd1 Dizzy and use the one inside of it? Im just gonna use the z6 pump, pan, and pickup.

id sugest obd2-obd1 harness conversion(35 bux) and a p28 ecu if u want to bypass the crank sensor and knock sensor. search google there is a write up on how to bypass it but i think it would be a bigger pain in the ***. on Google there is also a write up on how to trick the knock sensor as well. the pan may fit but its still kinda has a gap rite where the pan dips around the crank. i kept getting a slight leak there. switch the oil pan to a y7 and it worked perfectly no more leaks. goodluck
