Default I think my wheel bearing is going out, any help?

Hey everyone, my car has been making a weird flat tire sound that speeds up through left turns or when I stop, I tried to lift the car and move the tire around, but didn't think I got too much play. Does anyone know another way to tell if its the bearing? Also, does anyone know of a website where I can order the whole hub assembly with the bearing already in it? Thanks for all the help

if your wheel bearing is bad you will know it. Mine was and it sounded almost like my brakes were grinding. if the tire can move top to bottom and left to right its your wheel bearing. i got mine from autozone and had it pressed in, it cost about $70 for the bearing and to get it pressed

I've had bearings go out.. they sound real ugly, but there was no play in the hub.. once I took the hub off, it was obvious it was the bearing..

and yeah, you can get a hub with a bearing in it already pretty cheap.. I think it was about $60-70 at autozone or someplace..

I got my front wheel bearing from Honda. A bad wheel bearing should make a "wobble" noise and it increase with speed. Also, the side the bad wheel bearing is on, whenever you turn the wheel to that side while moving, the noise should stop.

Hey guys, I am not positive if its my bearing now basically I hear a thumping noise when I turn left or let the car cruise to a stop. Kind of sounds like a flat tire.

It's not a howling noise is it?

I have a howling coming from my back right wheel and I believe it is the bearing also...

this is under $20 bucks. pretty fun to hear stuff

jack the car up and point it on bearing with someone turning the wheel.

My car used to make a clicking thumping noise too when I would make a left turn. It turned out the CV Boot on the axle was broken and all the grease spilled out. So it was running dry. Got a new axle and fixed the problem. You might want to check that on your car, could be the same thing.

I agree, get under the car and check all your CV boots...they are notorious for ripping and going out. Causing annoying and dangerous situations...Check it asap

hey everyone! I replaced my driver side axle and the noise was still there. I just jacked the car up and put the car in drive, the driver side wheel would stop at somepoints without the brake being engaged while the passanger side would spin freely. Any idea what this is? I bought a brand new axle, not remanufactured. Thanks again fellas!

Open differential. Thumping noise? You have any vibration?

yes sir, at higher speeds I have vibration. I was thinking maybe the driver side caliper is frozen? Makes a bit of rubbing noise when I brake

i had bad wheel bearings on my old car (not a honda) but this is what I did to determine the bearings were bad...

jack the car up, put on jackstands

wiggle the tire back and forth holding the tire at the top and bottom

it shouldnt move much but if it does thats an indication that the bearings are going

steveo, I did that and had barely any play, same as the other side. I checked the calipers and they were easy to push back in, I also found this under my car, I was hoping someone would be able to tell what it is

Ok, you need to put the car down and go thru your hub and brake assembly.

My car vibrated on the driver side under accel turned out to be my wheel bearing. :-D
