Default My trunk won't open!!! HALP

Hi guys,

I have a 00 ek and I went in today to open my trunk but I think something was stuck inside the keyhole and when I put the key in it pushed it back and now my key can barely go half way in, not to mention my keyhole was starting to sieze on me.

Is there anything I can do to take out the keyhole so I can remove whatever is inside????

please and thank you

can't you fold the rear seats down and pull the little strap? You should be able to get at the lock once you do that.

Have you tried spraying WD-40 in the key hole? My trunk keyhole was seized and it did the trick. Also, '99-00 Civics have the trunk cable that you can pop from the inside. Both my '99 Civics have them.

Yes he's sure. Only the '96-'97 models had the pull handle inside on the driver's floor. The '98-'00 hatches had a handle that lifted up above the license plate instead, but it did not have the hatch release on the driver's floor anymore.

He owns one. I think he's pretty certain of if there is just a gas door release or a hatch release too on the floor of his car.

And I'm certain because I'm looking in the Honda parts catalog right now.

I would suggest the OP manually open the trunk from the inside of the hatch, but since it has that plastic piece on the bottom covering the lock cylinder and such, he can't get to it unless he cuts into or tears off the plastic panel.

Basically if the OP could remove that plastic panel at the bottom of the interior side of that hatch, he should be able to reach in and push the mechanism so that the cylinder would open. It's easier in a coupe or sedan because there is no plastic covering. I'll take a photo on my coupe for better explanation in the event that this is difficult to understand.
