Stock 88-89 Muffler fit 90-91?
I need a stock axleback/muffler for my 90 EF hatch and the only one I found was one off of an 89. The part #'s are different, but does anyone know how they differ? Is the flange where it bolts up different?
both the 88-89 and the 90-91 mufflers are different. they will not bolt up. the 88-89 havean exhaust flange (donut) on the part where the axle back bolts up. the 90-91 models dont. if you want to use the 90 version on your 89 make sure to grab the B-pipe as well so it will bolt up. and i dont remember but the 88-89 and the 90-91 use different style bolts on the axle back. one is spring loaded and the other has welded nuts on the b-pipe but i dont remember which is which.
no prob. just so you know the civic n crx mufflers from the axle back are the same. i ran a crx muffler on my hb before i sold it. looked nice too.

to you. The car is parked at my parent's house and I haven't looked at the flange for a while. I didn't expect anyone to "quote" me on that. The word believe in my sentence clearly indicated that I wasn't sure. And by "what I have," I was referring to the year of my car. Thanks
for clarifying that for me though. Now I am 110% sure that I must get a 90-91 axleback.
