gary gardella pro stock???
It would be a shame to see him leave sport compact, but on the other hand it would be nice to see him move up to that level. I mean can anyone fault him for wanting to get out of sport compact with the shape it is currently in?
I don't know where you heard this but if it's true, and it is the right opportunity with the right pieces in place to make it successful I say GO FOR IT. He deserves it, he has always been personable and professional from the first time I ever met him. He is a great representative for us to send over to that series and I think he can do very well. good luck Gary.
Sport Compact is the minor leagues for NHRA, IHRA and ADRL. NHRA Powerade series is the only big motorsport market that Red Bull is not in. Red Bull - Nascar, F1 o if Red Bull gives him the sponsorship he better jump on it.

Go for it Gary
, at one time or another if you have the opportunity to step it up then take the opportunity. Gary defenately has the right team combo behind him for a champion pro stock team.

There was an article around about gatorade and such finally being allowed after 2010 I think.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Existing teams will be allowed but no new teams will be allowed. Since Full Throttle will be the new title sponsor.

so if they go now before the new season starts would they be grandfathered in? if they start in 08 they should be ok, right?

this is just a rumor. ya he will have to run this year to be able to race next year. theres not many cars left guys in import racing. youlll lose a guy that has been at every race the last 7 years or so. not good for imports but great for him?

Its actually real good for Imports/Sport Compact.. It shows that we are a stepping stone for the "Big Show"

With the recent announcement and the changeover of the national event series name from the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series to the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, there are some new provisions that all national event participants need to be aware of. No energy sponsors will be allowed unless they were existing as of April 24, 2008, and fall under the Grandfather Clause. This includes both energy-drink and energy-drink-branded products. The Grandfather Clause and a form that must be filled out completely, notarized, and submitted with photographs to NHRA no later than June 20 can be found here if you believe your team falls under the Grandfather Clause. Please submit all forms to NHRA Tech Department, c/o Eric Lotz, 2035 Financial Way, Glendora, CA 91741.
The current provisions regarding isotonic/sports drink sponsors, including Gatorade, remain the same and will not be allowed under any circumstance in 2008. For 2009, isotonic/sports drink sponsors will be allowed for Pro classes, and only at primary level (at least 20 races for car sponsorships and 14 races for Pro Stock Motorcycle). In 2010, Gatorade and isotonic/sports drink sponsors will be allowed at any level of team sponsorship.

well it isnt in powerade competition but if they count participation in the SC series since 07 it would be possible for red bull to come on board. hope its not true but if it is good luck to gary and everyone at GR.

That is a good point. Gary has probably raced at oneof the Powerade races when we used to get invited so I guess he has a tech card registered and raced with Red Bull sponsorship so that would mean that he has competed and would be grandfathered in.... maybe.

He has also raced at actual "Big Show" events; the extreme rush thing they did a couple years back in addition to the events the PRO FWD guys attended last year.
All in all, I think this is a sad moment for Sport Compact if he is leaving. I love seeing the Pro FWD cars race. The competition was so great last year; it would be a blow to see him leave.
They are such a class act team in our industry for us to aspire to be like.

If you were to pick 1 driver, owner from this "sport compact" arena it would have to be Gary G, HUMPHRYS is doing amazing but he did drive a RWD so the jump was not as big as Gary's will be.
If this is true it is not a loss for this market as much as a gain for the NHRA Pro Stock,
GOOD LUCK

I think anywhere Gary chooses to go he will be successful, he's done a great job of marketing himself in various motorsport activities and will be a hit in any sanctioning body.
