Default Stripped tranny fill hole

After changing the oil in my vx MT I overtightened the fill plug and stripped the hole. I can tighten it enough to drive but dont feel confident it wont loosen and or leak. I am considering applying JB weld to the threads to seal it up permenantly. If I do, I can fill through a different spot for future oil changes. Any advice or opinions? Thanks

You can fill it through the VSS sensor hole. You can fix it with a helicoil if you want to fix it right.

Thanks for the suggestion. Any idea what the thread size is of the fill plug? I know the socket is 17mm but the thread is huge. I can hunt around for a helicoil kit locally tommarow. Thanks.

You can also use the reverse light switch hole on a D tranny, its a little easier to get to.

My guess is that it's probably M14x1.25 or M12x1.25, but you'll want to check to make sure. If you car is a beater you can change it and then JB weld it on there, then hope that lasts the life of the car, but if it's a nice car it's probably best to buy the helicoil and spend the time fixing it right.
