Default b16 problem

ok so i was driving out of walmart and my car all of a sudden dies out. so i turn it over and it would again die out. so i turn it on and give it gas but i cant go past 1400 rpm it would just kick it down like its limit. i dont know whats the problem. friend told me to restart my computer so i took off the power on the battery for 3 minutes and put it back on and started it up and it just died out again. i told my friend that i did the computer restarting and it still would do the same thing! he said it might be my distributor....anyone know what could be the problem??? please help!!!

well judging by the info check the coil inside the ''dizzy'' for the voltage then maby check the cap. if not check all of your grounds and maby a little more info. does it run stable under 14oo rpm's? or does it still die out?

it justs dies out if i dont give it gas. if i give it gas and keep it stable under 1400 then it would run but when i try to go higher than 1400 it would just kick me down and limit it there. but if i release my gas it would die out.

Everyone says dizzy or coil, but I hardly hear anyone say "ignitor". Guys in the Honda dealer I work at say they have more problems with ignitors than anything else.

Change the coil inside the distributor. Most people change the whole dizzy when it's not necessary...most of the distributors that are used for cores, or just thrown away, are most likely still good, just a bad coil. The coils are pretty cheap, usually $40+ to about $120 for the "High performance" aftermarket ones...change that before anything, and then report back.

Also check your spark plugs/wires...
