Default quick question for the daily riders.

if you can answer my question without too much in depth information thatd be great, i was just wondering how you keep your bikes and gear safe while at work or just going out? im pretty sure after an 8 hour shift youd like to know that your stuff isnt just gone? i know there are alarms and wheel locks out there, but for the individuals who didnt invest in them how do you keep your bike safe?

sorry if its a noob question, but ive checked out all the other threads and no one has brought this up..ill be getting my first bike soon and ill be doing 10-12 hour shifts at a restaurant and i would like the peace of mind that my gear and bike are safe

- Park the bike out front, in front of the door or windows. That way you can see it while working.

- Or find a lamp pole to chain it to

- Or park it inside your work

There is really no way to park it and be sure it will be there when you come back. Keeping it out where customers and other employees can see it is probably your best bet.

If you would like peace of mind, then invest in something like an alarm or wheel lock or something. If you dont have the money for it, then save for it before you ride to work.

But then again thats just me.

But like fatboy said, find a lamp pole and get a bike chain that cant be cut by bolt cutters

Purchase a motorcycle that doesn't have a market for stolen parts. IE rebel 250, older ninja 500/250.

Ha, this is true.

Or you could put some torn up fairings and cheap spray paint on your bike and make it look like a POS

I just got a really heavy bike.

Buy a bike cover? Keep your gear with you at work.

Full insurance is the best way to have absolute piece of mind.

I carry all my gear with me, I don't trust leaving it on the bike. Don't know how some people can do it, leaving what protects their lives exposed to the elements and to anyone else.

Always keep the bike in sight, and chain it to a pole or something solid.

In my case I park it in fron of the cameras that I monitor and bring my gear into the office. I can also see it from my desk while looking out the window.
