Default How to decarbonize a 89' B16a Head

Hello Honda tech community.

I have here a 89' Gen1 B16 Head I Bought.
There is lots of carbon buildup in the ports.

I would like to know; How should i go about cleaning it up?
I have used purple blaster and old toothbrush.
Only some came out, there is alot left.

Any tips from the community?

Brake cleaner, or just take it to a machine shop.

let that **** sit in degreaser for a couple days then use some steel wool and scrape a little with a screw or something and it will come right off.... but why would you wanna take the carbon build up off it increases compression

Just take it to the machine shop, they shouldn't charge you a lot to clean a head. I hate putting new parts on old dirty stuff, especially the internals of an engine.

Steel wool on an aluminum head will cause dissimilar metal corrosion if any of the tinywires get embedded into the head itself. Bad thing.

Soak it in a vat of engine degreaser for a day or two.
