Default Jdm sohc vtec D15b made 206whp at 9lbs. Buddy made 226whp at 8lbs.

I've heard of cars making more and less. My buddy's d16z6 made 226whp at 8lbs. Does that mean he has a healthier motor leading to 20 more hp? Both have stock bottom ends and were tuned by the same person. I just want to be sure that my motor is healthy. What are some of your sohc numbers.

Do a compression and leak down test to see what kinda condition your motor is in , but also if he has more miles the carbon build up on the pistons it will yeild higher compression numbers and make more power.

I assume its healthy because it was at 123whp all motor before the turbo install. I guess my question is this a decent gain for 9lbs. 123whp to 206whp. Thanks.

Well if you understood that PSI doesn't dictate your power output, this wouldn't even be a question.

Hypothetical situation now:
-Two identically built GSR engines side by side
-One has a 57 trim
-One has an GT4088R

Both setups at 16psi are going to make different amounts of power because the turbos are different and have different flow rates. By the sounds of it, you should do a bit of reading in the Forced Induction FAQ about PSI vs flow...this will all become much clearer

But do you both have the same turbo SETUP? You may have the same turbo, but there may be a lot of factors that will make the entire setup different. Are you two running the same intercooler, injectors, etc.?

as what everyone says.

also what kind of manifold are you both running?

are they both tuned by teh same person?

is your tune more conservative and his more aggressive?

actually more importantly are they all tuned on the same dyno?

All the same. On the same dyno by the same tuner also. He has slightly bigger injectors. He has stock jdm prelude injectors which i believe are either 340 or 345 cc. I have Rc 310's. I did tell my tuner however that this would be a daily driver and I didnt want to risk blowing it up so maybe he made it a conservative 206whp?

injector size doesnt give you more or less hp just a cap on how much hp you can make.

so yes your tuner probably tuned it conservative

its actually a very
decent and strong motor. The jdm d15b makes 130hp according to hmotorsonline. With boltons before the turbo install it made 123 whp with boltons and tuning.
