how much hp does the jdm sohc d15 vtec have?
a guy is selling me one for a good price. the motor has low miles and i'm considering buying it. the motor is still in his car and i test drove it, it has pretty good power for a single cam. but i want to know for sure how much horsepower is this motor rated at before i buy it.

there are two kinds of JDM OBDI (92-5) D15Bs versions of SOHC VTECs;
- there is SOHC VTEC D15B from a VTI/VXi which is a destroked d16z6, using a VX crank/rods/pistons (this maintains the R/S ratio), this is rated 130ps (128hp) adn about 102lb/ft of torque.
-then there is a SOHC VTEC-E D15B which is from JDM ETi, it is a VX motor (d15z1) it has only 94ps (92hp), it is a ULEV type motor with low power, and nothing but good gas miealge
check out my projects, it included a JDM D15B, its quiet good power output for d15b

U could be right on the specs, but it wasn't found in the VTi.

First, that link sucked.
Second, I only know of the VTi in Europe, which was equipped with a B16A1(158hp) from 89-91 in the CRX, the B16A1(158hp) in the 89-91 Civic, the B16A3(158hp) in the 94-97 Del Sol, then the B16A(168hp) in the 96+ Civic.

I mean **** dude-- If you only KNEW how much time myself and my crew spent looking for real solid complete info, you would **** yourself. Who do you trust? Whos's right? who's wrong? ****- half of the hybrid board is off from honda.cp.jp's website. Helms manuals list different numbers sometimes too. Who do you trust?
What it comes down to is after searching the web for countless hours- you tend to pick one... or an average. is it THAT big of a deal of 168 vs 170? Give it a break.
At least Hondaswap TRIES and MAKES AN EFFORT to provide information for people who want it- Honda-tech, what is it? a forum- nothing more. The owners of this site put JACK **** for time into trying to create a tech website. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to hate on H-T, as I post here too... But fact is, whitout a forum, this site is, well... nothing. No articles, no reference.
We attempted and continue to attempt to provide accurate info, and welcome corrections to our info. No one knows it all, I don't and you don't.

i have to agree with brian. the people that put up that info did work their *** off and so some of it is off, don't be a dick. email the owner of the site tell them the info is wrong and give them the correct info. is it that damn hard? no, but for some reason you have to come on here act like a dick and start bashing a site that is trying to help honda enthusiasts around the world know facts about their car and many others. WE don't know it all contrary to popular belief, we mess up and we make mistakes. i guess you have never made one. i guess when you first got into honda's you never once quoted honda engine specs wrong?We al have. i know i did once or twice and someone coreected me in a NICE way. grow up and realize that some people are just trying to help. If you want to help others out you can tell us what specs are wrong. we would be glad to fix them so people ARE getting the right info.
