Default OBD 1 to OBD 2 years.....

I was under the impression that GSR motors were only OBD1 up until 95 and starting in 96 they switched to OBD2 but there is a guy trying to sell me a 97 GSR Swap that he swears up and down is an OBD1 and all GSR's were OBD1 up until early 98 and late 98 models switched to OBD2. Who is right and is this guy full of $hit and trying to scam me or what? Thanks Ya'll.

Youre right hes BSing or doesnt know what the hell hes talking about UNLESS he did a OBD2 to OBD1 conversion.

'92-95 = OBD1
'96+ = OBD2

i thought so. He didnt do a conversion, he's saying all motors early 98 and before are OBD1 and late 98 and after are OBD2. Ive been out of the game for a while, but not that long. I didnt think i lost it that badly.

Good old wikipedia

"1996: The OBD-II specification is made mandatory for all cars sold in the United States. "

Notice how it states that is was made mandatory for all cars in 1996, but some manufactureres where already implementing OBD2 in 95 and late 94.
