EG all the way. Smaller, lighter, sexier. IMO the EK hatchies rear end is an eyesore. Pick what you like though.

I posted a pros and cons EG vs. EK topic here years ago with probably 40 different comparisons, but if we leave looks out of the equation and focus solely on mechanical and cost areas IMO the EG is clear choice.

EG is lighter, cheaper, OBD1, etc. etc. Honda offered one with an OE moon roof on Si EG models if you like them - EK never had an OE roof in terms of hatches.

Anyways I'm not typing up the huge write-up again.

dito... if you can find a nice EG id get it over a EK hatch.

the EK probably has a few more safety features which gives it the added weight.

but IMO the EG just looks better. but thats all in opinion

You know I used to argue that point back in 2002 or so, and I realized one day that nobody gives a crap. I mean my name here is "EH2" not "EG6" like it first was when I first signed up here 2454 days ago. I tried to spur on the "stop calling them EG and EK" revolution years ago, but it never really caught on.

People loosely refer to the 92-95 Civic as "EG" and the 96-00 Civic as "EK" and while it's fundamentally wrong you know exactly what the OP meant by it, didn't you?

go ek4 SiR or ek9... either way both cleaner than eg...ek parts are easier to find because its a newer generation than eg...

dont get me wrong eg are clean too... my second choice though

thats not true, try ordering interior and other parts for a 2000 hatch, dark gray is discontinued like a ****, but i can go get anything for my eg coupe.

I had both and really, to my preferences at least, I like my 92 Civic hatch way more then my 97.

I just like the way it feels while driving among other things.

form - EK

function - EG

I'd probably go with an eg, easier to work on, parts are easier to find and cheaper, but that's due to the fact that theres more of them...

I still regret not getting an EG. Only reason is cause EVERY EG i would find for sale had either no floors left or the body/rear quarter were eaten by rust. So i ended up buying an ek coupe. If someone would ever trade their EG hatchie for my ek coupe, i wouldn't even think twice! It's such a nice car.

EG FTW!

EG!!! You dont want to have to deal with the obd2 check engine light with every mod and its hard to convience a shop to give you a asm inspection when you have a obd2 car.

Ek4 or EK9 for sure man. Looks much more racing than the EG. Besides, the engine is developed. Japanese do that for something don't you think?
